The XT400E Artesia was the later, more modern take on the 400 single, adding electric starting and disc brakes at both ends to the four-valve air-cooled engine. Mono-cross rear suspension and a 21-inch front wheel kept it an all-round dual-purpose bike. It was a more convenient road-going version of the earlier kick-start model.
